Holistic ways to beat depression
Depression. Kate Spade, next Anthony Bourdain, and many many other more of the names we don’t know of. But one thing in common, they gave up, they were tired of standing alone in the midst of darkness, they were convinced to believe there was no way out, they were lost within their own thoughts... But no, you don’t have to give up, instead of letting it hit you down, you receive and hit it back, instead of suffering it you choose battle with it. Apart from replying on antidepressants, I’d like to share some of my holistic healing tips to help with depression, just remember there’s alway a WAY:
See a therapist, either is a psychologist or holistic therapist(based on your personal experience and beliefs),tell them about your depression issues, can work with her to find the deeper cause of your depression and find a way to work on it together.
Exercise, workout releases endorphines, which can help with depression. Give your mind and body a relax, focusing on exercise makes you feel good about yourself.
Enjoy the sun, Vitamin D(which comes from sunlight) is linked to lower depression.
Read a good book, choose something that is uplifting that can change your perspective on life.
Eat healthy, overeating and eating too much sugar and fat can ramp up your depression cycle. Healthy foods known for improving your mood including dark chocolate(small amount), walnut, wild caught salmon.
Ditch the drinks and drugs, drinking can make you feel better short term, but alcohol is a depressant, it will make you feel worse in the long run. Same goes for drugs- prescription or otherwise.
Laugh out loud, laughing really does make you feel better. Watch a silly movie and get your giggles on.
Love yourself, treat yourself like someone you dear to your heart. Learn to silence that negative self talk, know that you are enough and Lovable.
Create something. Journaling, writing, drawing. Do anything creative that makes feel great about yourself and gets your mind off other issues
Have the courage to change. What is your childhood dream for your future life? What sets your heart on fire. Go deeper and find your passion. Then align your goal with your action, take baby steps to change accordingly. Things will get better when you make a conscious decision to move towards to happiness.
